just a random spiky plant that i took a picture of and tweaked the colour..

This is a great picture. I like the contrast and how the colours complement ezch other, creating an almost grey/pink image. The blur of the background has helped to remove what could be a fairly clutterd background, and does wonders to emphasise the main subject.
My only criticism is that you have placed the subject in the centre of the frame. It is generally felt that this has less impact than had you composed taking the `rule of thirds' into consideration. Of course a suitable crop would resolve this post processing, but you will lose a lot of pixels in the process. So it is always deemed better to frame the image in camera based on the `rule of thirds', rather than having to correct this afterwards.
That said, I think it is a very effective image.
